All-Optical two-bit Comparator Using SOA Based Mach-Zehnder Interferometers

All-optical logic devices play a very important role for signal processing applications in optical computing and all-optical networks due to their high operational speed. We propose an all-optical 2-bit comparator using SOA based MZI architecture. The input signals applied to the proposed device are at different or same wavelengths. The three comparator optical outputs are also obtained at same wavelength. Numerical simulated timing diagrams which exactly match with the standard result with correct logic bit patterns are obtained at 10 Gb/s. The integrating ability and simpler structure makes this design an attractive solution in photonic computing and optical signal processing.
