Production function analysis of maize production in China

The main factors affecting maize production,such as the effective planted areas and the unit area input cost factors,were analyzed to develop methods to raise the maize yield to ensure food and energy security in China.The unit area input cost factors included the chemical fertilizer,farm fertilizer,pesticide,irrigation and drainage,machine,and labor input.The product model used a maize econometric function model to analyze the effects of the main factors on the maize production for the past 20 years.The results show that the planted areas and fertilizer input are the most important factors,whereas other factors including technical progress have less effect though they can not be ignored.
