The electroencephalographic effects of GABA when using perfluorocarbon emulsions in rats

1994
: Awake and freely moving rats were used to study the electroencephalographic effects of GABA administered into the lateral ventricle of the brain during preliminary central and peripheral use of emulsions of organoperfluorine compounds (OPFC). The central (intraventricular) injections of OPFC emulsion and the surfactant proxanol used in it were demonstrated to inhibit the effects of GABA. The peripheral (intravenous) injection of the emulsion caused no changes in the electroencephalographic effects of GABA.
