Good response to hepatic arterial chemoembolization in a patient with primary neuroendocrine tumor of the liver

2003
A primary neuroendocrine tumor without endocrine symptoms was reported on a 64-year-old woman. Despite of intensive survey, no other primary source of the tumor was found. Contrasted-enhanced computed tomography (CT) showed three nodules in both lobes. After two courses oftranscatheter arterial embolization (TAE), the serial follow-up CT scans showed nearly complete regression of these hepatic tumors. The patient was well without tumor recurrence 18 months after TAE. We reported this successful experience and the recent literature on management of neuroendocrine tumor was also discussed.
