Modular flexible ureteroscope combined with holmium laser for the treatment of upper urinary calculi in children
2018
Objective
To evaluate the clinical value of modular fiexible ureteroscopy cooperated holmium laser lithotripsy in the treatment of upper urinary tract stones in children.
Methods
From Feb. to Apr.2017, the clinical data of 6 children with upper urinary tract stones treated with modular flexible ureteroscopy holmium laser lithotripsy were retrospectively reviewed.
Results
The stone-free rate after a one-stage procedure was 100%. The duration of the procedure ranged from 20 to 36 min, mean (25 ± 2.5) min. Postoperative hospital stay ranged from 3 to 5 days, mean (4 ± 0.8) d. No major complication such as ureter perforation, and bleeding. During the follow-up of 12 months, there was no recurrence of calculi, no ureteral stricture, no hydronephrosis.
Conclusions
Modular flexible ureteroscopy has advantages such as less trauma, faster recovery, safe, effective for upper urinary calculi in children.
