FLUMAZENIL ASSOCIATED SEIZURE IN AN ll-MUNTM-OLD C;ccCLD

1996
Flumazenil is a benzodiazepine antagonist that has been approved recently to reverse the sedative effects of benzodiazepines after general anesthesia, conscious sedation, and overdose. In adults, seizures are the most common serious adverse event associated with the administration of flumazenil ( 1) . There is little literature about the adverse effects of flumazenil in children. We report a case of an infant who developed apnea after being treated with diazepam to terminate a febrile seizure. When flumazenil was given to reverse the apnea, a second more pronounced seizure immediately followed.
