Wear resistance in steel 45 after frictional treatment by rubbing without seizure

1990
Frictional treatment with mineral oil or a saturated aqueous solution of inorganic salts based on magnesium and calcium chlorides can raise the wear resistance substantially in sliding friction for steel 45-steel 45 pairs with pressures of 1 MPa and sliding speeds from 0.25 to 3.5 m/sec. The maximum effect is observed in the speed range where seizure of the first kind occurs.
