Modern DRAM technology in the TV set: improved picture quality and new features

2002
The authors describe new digital systems for the processing of TV signals in order to enable an obviously improved picture quality as well as a number of features in modern TV sets. The most important task was the elimination of the 50-Hz large area flicker which is the most annoying characteristic of the PAL TV standard. Digital signal processing functional blocks as e.g. the digital operating chroma decoder, the Featurebox 88 or the picture-in-picture IC and the application of modern video DRAM technology made better picture quality and new functions possible. The system can handle all TV standards: PAL, SECAM and NTSC. >
