Quantitation of beta lipoprotein cholesterol

Summary 1. The estimation of β cholesterol by the formula of Frederickson compares favourably with the actual biochemical quantitation under certain circumstances. 2. In 5 normal and 14 hyperlipoproteinemic subjects the percentage error between the two methods ranged from 1.1 to 10%. 3. In a type III and two type V hyperlipoproteinemic patients there was poor agreement between the two methods.
