Production of spin polarized 15C in heavy‐ion reaction and measurement of g‐factor for the 1/2+ ground state
2008
Spin‐polarized 15C nuclei produced in 15N‐induced reaction were transmitted through an achromatic spectrometer, and implanted in a high‐purity graphite stopper in the presence of a static magnetic field. An rf field was applied on the stopper, and the spin inversion induced via nuclear magnetic resonance was observed through a change in the measured up/down asymmetry of β rays from 15C. From the observed resonance frequency the g‐factor for the ground state of 15C has been determined to be ‖g‖=2.63±0.14.
