Sperm migration in the human female reproductive tract.

1973
26 fertile women with patent fallopian tubes were studied to determine the sperm content of the uterine oviductal and peritoneal cavities 7-37 hours after coitus. In 76% of the women sperms were found in the upper genital tract or in the peritoneal cavity. The largest number of sperm in the tubes was found in patients with a 1-day-old corpus luteum 10-15 hours postcoitus.
