Traffic mitigation reference guide: a review of options available to the public and private sectors

1984
This is a reprint of a guide developed by the San Francisco Bay Area's Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) on how to reduce traffic impacts, through city, developers, and employer actions. It is adapted slightly from the original version published by MTC. It includes material on a wide variety of techniques, including carpooling and vanpooling programs, transit usage, parking management approaches, variable work hours, bicycle programs, various kinds of brokerage activities, incorporation of traffic mitigation techniques into local plans, policies, ordinances, and development project approvals, along with specific techniques for monitoring of compliance and enforcement. Funding of traffic mitigation activities from public or private sources is also discussed.
