Alumina-zirconia ceramics

Alumina-zirconia ceramics are investigated with partial stabilisation in situ of zirconia using cerium dioxide, for this purpose as well. There are established correlations between the position of the ceramics in the ternary system Al 2 O 3 - ZrO 2 - CeO 2 , their actual phase composition, under comparable processing and sintering conditions, as well as the mechanical behaviour of the investigated ceramics. The interpretations elaborated on this basis emphasize the chemical-phase determinations demonstrated on the mechanical behaviour of the alumina-zirconia ceramics with cerium, processed and sintered under similar conditions.
