Analysis of the Perclose Proglide Vascular Closure Devices in the Endovascular Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair (EVAR)

2013
Objective To investigate the application value of the Perclose Proglide vascular closure devices in the endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repairment. Methods The endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repairment was performed in 114 cases,in which 45 cases were treated with Perclose Proglide vascular closure devices to suture the puncture site of the femoral arteries and 69 cases were treated with the traditional surgical suture to close the incised femoral arteries. The suture time and the lower limb blood supply between the two groups after the producers were compared. Results The endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repairment was successfully performed in all 114 patients. The suturing time was 65 min in the surgical group and 33 min(P ﹤ 0.001) in the vascular closure device group. In the vascular closure device group, the femoral arteries were sutured with the devices with a success rate of 100% and the incision length was less than one centimeter, and only one patient needed suturing the skin incision with 1 suture needle. All the patients could get out of bed between 4 and 6 hours without incision oozing. In the suturing group, the incision had a length arranging from 5 centimeters to 8 centimeters and was sutured with needle between 6 and 10 suture needles, the patients in this group get out of bed in 24 hours after the producer without incision oozing, but 2 patients had to remove the stitches with a delay because of the partly poor wound healing. After 6 months of operation, the two groups of patients had no surgical wound related complications. Conclusion Perclose Proglide vascular closure devices can be effectively used in the endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repairment by the femoral puncture method.Comparing with the traditional surgical suture method,Perclose Proglide vascular closure devices has less injury and shorter operation time, and the patients can recover more quickly. The Perclose Proglide vascular closure devices can be considered as the minimal invasive treatment and is worth to be applied in the clinics more extensively.
