Expression and clinical significance of secreted protein acidic and rich in cysteine like 1 in gastric cancer

2013
Objective To investigate the expression and clinical significance of secreted protein acidic and rich in cysteine like 1 (SPARCL1) in gastric cancer. Methods Immunohistochemistry (IHC)was used to detect SPARCL1 protein expression in 106 cases of gastric cancer tissues, normal mucosae and lymph nodes. Results The expression of SPARCL1 in normal mucosae was obviously higher than that in gastric cancer tissues and metastatic lymph nodes (P < 0.01),and the down-regulated SPARCL1 was related to serosa invasion, lymph node metastasis, lymph node ratio (LNR),tumor location, remote metastasis, clinical stage and survival time (P < 0.05).Furthermore,SPARCL1 was an important independent prognosis factor (P < 0.05).Conclusion Down-regulated SPARCL1 might paly an important role in occurrence, progression, metastasis and prognosis of gastric cancer.
