Small Hydropower Potential in Missouri

1986
The hydropower potential of small head plants on the Gasconade River was investigated. Since, it is felt that small head plants will have less environmental impact, thus it will be more amenable to the development of the hydropower potential of the Gasconade River. The results of this study indicate that less power can be developed from small head hydropower than from large hydropower for the same total topographic relief and discharge per drainage area. The potential of the small hydropower in the Gasconade River basin with an area of 2840 square miles (7355. 6 square kilometers) is 40,000 kilowatts.
