Protective efficacy of inactivated bovine Campylobacter jejuni and recombinant HSP43 protein.

2010
To evaluate the protective efficacy of inactivated bovine Campylobacter jejuni and the recombinant HSP43 protein(rHSP43),inactivated C.jejuni or rHSP43 was emulsificated with white oil or alhydrogel at various concentrations and subcutaneously inoculated to mouse in different groups, followed by boost at 14 days. The results showed that mice vaccinated with the high dosage(1.5×109 cfu/0.3 mL) of inactivated C.jejuni had significant higher antibody titre than that of other groups;and the antibody level induced by rHSP43 was similar to that induced by 1.5×107 cfu/0.3 mL inactivated C.jejuni.Challenged at 21 days with 1×1010 doses of C.jejuni bacteria showed that the the inactivated C.jejuni provided complete protection in mice, while the rHSP43 only provided 75 % protection.
