Letter to Li Yu-ning

I appreciate this opportunity to express my gratitude to Professor Wilbur following his passing. I studied with Professor Wilbur and had frequent contacts and communications with him from 1963 to 1970. In 1963 I enrolled in the Department of Chinese and Japanese (now East Asian Languages and Cultures) to study modern Chinese history. Martin Wilbur became my major academic professor and personal adviser. After 1970 we met occasionally when I visited Columbia.
