Prognostic Factors for Invasive Breast Cancer

The natural history of breast cancer is characterized by marked heterogeneity. Some patients have an indolent clinical course, whereas others experience rapid progression of disease and death within a few months. Such clinical and biologic differences in the course of the disease have been the main factor hampering the development of an effective treatment modality for a given stage of breast cancer.
