Character association for grain yield and its components in pearl millet

2014
Strong positive significant correlations were observed between grain yield per plant with number of grains per cmz, ear head girth and fodder yield per plant at genotypic and phenotypic level. Based on the present results, it could be concluded that the number of grains per cmz, ear head girth, fodder yield per plant, plant height, number of effective tillers per plant, 1000 grain weight and ear head length could be identified as the most important characters associated with Grain yield and therefore can be used as selection criteria for yield improvement of pearl millet.
