20,000 Ligands Under the Sea: Metal-Organic Supramolecules from the Ocean

Many variations of metal-organic supramolecules (MOSs) can be assembled from constituent metallic ions and organic molecules. Turning to the sea, ocean-sourced alginate and carrageenan (both derived from seaweeds) can inspire the development of a new wave of renewable and environmentally benign biopolymer-based MOSs.
