Managing timber bridges: without 'over stressing'

This paper presents an overview of a bridge asset management system that has been developed at Eurobodalla Shire Council in New South Wales, using readily available material such as the VicRoads Bridge Inspection Manual and the Austroads Guidelines for Bridge Management. It also discusses how information gained from visual assessment and testing provides essential information for managing timber bridges for risk, safely and economically and highlights how any local government engineer can put together a simple bridge management system.
