Vehicle Detection Using an Infrared Light Emitter and a Photodiode as Visualization System

2015
Nowadays , different devices are used for traffic control and accidents prevention in urban junctions. The m ost popular systems for vehicles detection are: inductive loop vehicle detector systems and camera detector systems. However, the se systems have some weaknesses. B asically , in installation and maintenance for the first one and complex processing algorithms for the se cond one . This paper presents an alternative method to vehicle s detection and speed estimation using an infrared emitter and a photodiode as visualization system . The main advantage lies in that it is a non - intrusive method and installation does not requir es pavement cut . Possible measuring errors can be compensated with different techniques as artificial i ntelligence - and other mathematic models. In this application we used functions defined by part s.
