Bone and Body Mineral Composition Studies in Active Duty and Retired Submariners

1983
Abstract : The total body calcium measurement, indicative of total bone mass, is normal in retired submariners and the bone mineral content, indicative regional bone mass, is normal in both active duty and retired submariners. Therefore, it is concluded that repeated and prolonged exposure to the submarine environment produces no cumulative changes in skeletal mass.
