Pseudonodules formation on barley roots induced by Rhizobium astragali

1990
Symbiotic association Rhizobium astragali with barley roots was induced by a permanent magnetic field. Initially root hairs were deformed. Later, pseudonodules were formed, showing infected cells with infection threads, and bacteroids each enclosed within a peribacteroid membrane. The overall picture is similar to that of legume root nodules. No acetylene reduction activity could be detected in pseudonodules.
