Some aspects of perinatal mortality in cases of dystocia.

1971
Perinatal mortality in Indonesia was investigated using maternity records for 1966-1970 to determine the relationship between dystocia and perinatal mortality. Of the 18552 babies born during this period 2815 were born from dystocia cases giving an incidence of 15.09% cases of dystocia with a perinatal mortality rate of 21.9%. Parity 1 had the highest incidence of dyxtocia but perinatal mortality in dystocia was greatest at parity 4. Overweight babies with associated high perinatal mortality were most common for parity 2-6. It is suggested that all health care workers in Indonesia should try to improve ante- intra- and postnatal care provided the best professional aid in all deliveries and educate the people in order to improve fetal salvage.
