The present invention relates to the synthesis of a material having titanium dioxide nanocrystals doped with nitrogen. According to the invention, a combustor is provided, by raising the temperature of at least 500 degrees C, from a precursor containing at least titanium, oxygen and nitrogen. Advantageously, the combustion implementation can be a laser pyrolysis and ammonia can be used both as: - providing reactive nitrogen element, - sensitizer pyrolysis reaction, - and drive fluid of another reagent bringing the titanium member.
