Prevalence of Metabolic Syndrome and Its Association with Carotid Artery Intima-Media Thickness in Newly Diagnosed Hypertensive Patients

Objectives: Family medicine, have a holistic and health-focused perspective instead of disease-oriented, with special responsibility for public health, providing services for the needs of society, lived in the patient's clinical decisions that using information about the society and the environment. In this study, primary health care perspective of administrative and academic staff served at Sakarya University was aimed to examine. Material and Method: Between February 2014 and April 2014, 175 of academic and administrative staff who served at Sakarya University and accepted to participate in the research survey, participated to query the information about the family medicine. Primary health care perspective of administrative and academic staff was examined.. Results: According to the survey; it is found that 76.6% of the study participants were aware of their family doctor and 14.3% of them are went to check on regularly. Although there is no signiŞ cant difference found between knowing family doctor, went to check on regularly and profession, gender; there is a signiŞ cant difference between knowing family doctor and their marital status (p = 0.017). A signiŞ cant difference between went to check on regularly and marital status, profession is also found. (p=0,004; p= 0,018). Conclusion: The rate of knowing the family doctor and going to regular control has been identiŞ ed below expectations at a senior institutions of higher education.
