2018
Social Work has a leading role in the welfare management. The contact with social reality makes the discipline well aware of the needs and barriers in the access to resources. Especially in European countries, its role in the management and application of social policy makes it crucial for the welfare provision. From the very development of the profession, key lessons can be extracted both for the design and adaptation of social policies. However, Social Work participation in the protection framework has been reduced to management and policy application. In recent years, Social Work is facing a new context where not only marks social needs or opportunities for social incorporation but also detects how the welfare management has a greater participation on public, private and lucrative or non-profit institutions. This opens new challenges and spaces for action. What should be the role of the Social Work field facing new forms of social provision proliferation? How should be related to new suppliers? What should be its mission before the protection of the users? The new reality in the welfare provision opens up important challenges to reflect on. The aim of this communication is to address the discussion and contribute to the construction of a Social Work response in this scenario of welfare mix provision
