Advanced LID Experimental Array: Shenzhen University, Guangdong Province, China

This paper presents design schematics and the preliminary research program for a Low Impact Development (LID) research facility to be installed at Shenzhen University, Guangdong Province, China. The research program will examine several different green roof and bioretention systems, as well as a rain garden. Different media and outlet configurations will be used to explore how these elements can be manipulated to provide the most effective hydrologic regime and pollutant removal performance. The facility is under construction as of this writing, and will be complete by the time of the conference. Initial results on media phosphorus (P) and metals removal performance and hydrologic benefits will be forthcoming in the first year of operation. Nitrogen (N) removal performance will be enhanced after plants have become established. This paper presents the overall layout of the project and the salient points to be evaluated.
