Caracterización y propuesta técnica de la acuacultura en la zona de chanduy, provincia del Guayas

The objective of this document is to describe the evolution and development of the Chanduy aquaculture production. This document describes the characteristics that identify this zone and how it is related to the industrial sector in Ecuador. A poll was used to collect production data, technical management and total area from the aquaculture sector in this zone. Thus, Chanduy zone is dedicated mainly to the shrimp aquaculture with a total production area of 2358 has of shrimp farms. The average shrimp production data is 1400 kg/ ha /year, survival rate of 64%, a final individual weight near 11 grams and a culture period of 130 days. Also, this paper presents an evaluation of the principal environmental components that affects shrimp production, analyze the principal strengths and menaces to the shrimp production industry, presents a technical proposal to face the current problems and suggests alternatives for the future development of shrimp aquaculture. Concluding, even though in Chanduy sector exist shrimp growth problems due to hypersalinity, an adequate technical management has accomplished a productive, efficient and employment generator shrimp production system.
