Photovoltaic device using semiconductor heterostructure nanowires and method for manufacturing the same

2007
A photovoltaic device using a nano wire of a semiconductor heterostructure is provided to remarkably improve the efficiency of a photovoltaic device by forming a heterojunction nano wire structure having a very high specific surface area. A plurality of heterostructure semiconductor nano wires(106) are arranged on a substrate(101), including a plurality of semiconductor nano wire cores(104) of a first conductivity type and a semiconductor nano wire sheath(105) deposited on the nano wire core. The semiconductor nano wire core is extended upward from the upper surface of the substrate. The semiconductor nano wire sheath is formed along the surface of the nano wire core. A gap between the nano wires is filled with an insulated filling material(107). A first electrode(110) is formed on the nano wire, electrically connected to the nano wire sheath. A second electrode(120) can be formed on the lower surface of the substrate, electrically connected to the nano wire core through the substrate.
