Women In Non-Traditional Sector- A Theoretical Study

2013
Gendered power structures and social norms lock both men and women in positions that limit both their productivity and their ability to choose their lives they want to live. Some fields are viewed feminine and most masculine in nature. There is a stereotyping on the profession that a person wants to pursue. Especially with women stereotyping is much prevalent. Social norms still looked as a barrier to women to pursue the field they like which is considered as male bastion. Women who engage in work that was dominated by men still can face several hardships and acceptability by the society. This paper is a theoretical view of women who engage in non-traditional work.
