Further processing of the Slovak space debris observations: light curves

2020
Astrometry of space debris observations is an undeniably important part of the science of understanding space debris objects. Knowing their position at any time along their also calculated trajectory is crucial in understanding their behaviour. Additionally, information about an object's chemical composition and physical properties might help paint the whole picture and provide supplementary data, or even correct the existing theories. For this purpose, the Slovak 70 cm optical telescope has the capability to extract photometric data which are then processed into custom database available to the public for free of charge. In this paper, we present the methodology of creating light curves - which are one of the products of photometry - as well as their mathematical properties and conclusions that these produce. We also take a look at the database itself - both the technical details and description of its capabilities.
