Recubrimiento de Placas de Titanio CP Usadas en Osteosíntesis con Carbono Tipo Diamante CP Titanium Plate Coating Used in Osteosynthesis with Diamond-like Carbon

2010
The purpose of this work is to prove that CP titani um implants (Ti CP) can be coated with diamond-like carbon films (DLC) to produce a material of better biocompatibil ity. To coat the Ti CP plates used in osteosynthesi s a hot filament CVD HFCVD system was employed, by mixing hydrogen and methane in a 200 to 0.9 sccm proportion, at subs trate temperature of 880°C and filament temperature of 2200°C. The examination of the coatings by SEM shows the cauliflowershaped dendritic growth common to the formation of diamond-like carbon films. The analysis of the film s by XPS was done with an ESCALAB 250 Thermo VG Scientific, equipped with an Ar+ argon ion beam to draw the elemental composition profile in relation to depth. The XPS analys is evidences that the chemical structure and the co mposition of the interface correspond to Ti-DLC compounds. The activity of the C1s line registered on the surface and in the depth after 7-hour of erosion of the coating evidences strong changes in the proportion of C-C bonds at 284.8 eV and TiC bonds at 281.7 eV.
