Interaction of triplet state of crystal violet with fullerene C60
2001
Abstract Interaction of fullerene C 60 with triplet state of triphenyl methane dye crystal violet ( 3 CV +∗ ) has been studied by the pulse radiolysis technique. It is found that the 3 CV +∗ is quenched by C 60 . The resulting transient spectrum in the near IR region shows absorption peak at 1140 nm, which differs from that of anion radical of C 60 and has been attributed to the exciplex between CV + and C 60 . Addition of polar solvent does not seem to break this exciplex to give separated radical ions CV 2+ and C 60 − .
