A method for applying a fluoroalkyl organopolysiloxane coating with durable water and oil repellent properties to polymeric substrates

2001
The present invention relates to a process for the production of very thin, highly hydrophobic and oleophobic layers on polymeric substrates. The films of the invention are stable in boiling water and behave resistant to chafing with plastic mats under pressure. By the process described substrate surfaces are pretreated by physical methods. The subsequent coating with a solution of fluoroalkyl organopolysiloxanes in water or alcohol and annealing the substrate at a higher temperature results in the desired properties.
