Conceptual Research on Magnetohydrodynamics-Oblique Detonation Ramjet

Some technology challenges have been encountered for extending scramjet operation envelope to higher flight Mach number.A new conceptual Ramjet of Magnetohydrodynamics-Oblique Detonation Ramjet(MODR) was proposed.Compared with the thermodynamic cycle efficiency of classic ramjet and ramjet with MHD bypass,MODR has more competitive advantages.The key technologies for MODR were presented,which need to be resolved in future research.MODR may expand hypersonic propulsion operation range and improve the performance of hypersonic propulsion system.Thus,it is important to take further exploration for MODR.
