Electrophoresis in synthetic gels. I. Relation of gel structure to resolution.

1962
Abstract Using hemoglobin A as a marker substance and hemoglobins S and C as test substances, the effect of gel structure on resolution of the test substances was investigated in acrylamide gel. No effect of pore size could be demonstrated. Increasing the carboxyl content of the gel increased the reverse electroosmotic flow without affecting the resolution, while increasing the quaternary ammonium content of the gel reduces the resolution.
