Effectiveness of seven organophosphorus compounds as space applications against Musca domestica.
1963
Mist applications of one to three concentrations of malathion, ronnel, Bayer 29493 ( O,O -dimethyl O -[4-(methylthio)- m -tolyl] phosphorothioate), DDVP, diazinon, naled and dimethoate emulsions against caged Musca domestica L. showed that the effective dosage was >0.6, 0.4, 0.4, >0.3, 0.3, 0.1.5–0.2, and 0.10–0.2 lb. per acre, respectively. Six percent malathion failed to give complete mortalities at 0.6 lb. per acre at .50 feet. Naled in a 1.5% formulation and at a dosage per acre of 0.10 to 0.14 lb. produced 95 to 100% kills up to 150 feet, diazinon at 6% concentration and a rate of 0.20–0.24 lb. per acre gave similar kills up to 100 feet. With 6% dimethoate, kills above 90% were obtained at distances of 50 to 200 feet.
