DYNAMIC ROUTE GUIDANCE : DIFFERENT APPROACHES TO THE SYSTEM CONCEPTS

1998
This paper presents two approaches which can be used in designing the system architecture for a dynamic route guidance system. The first approach involves a centrally calculated dynamic route guidance system. The second approach involves on-board dynamic route guidance. The effect of component design and communication needs A hybrid system is then proposed in which information gathering and strategic possessing are centrally based. The on-board equipment consists of an enhanced automobile navigation system which offers tactical dynamic route guidance.
