Dislodgement of a sirolimus-eluting stent in the right coronary artery and its successful deployment with a small-balloon technique

2014
Abstract Coronary artery stent dislodgement during angioplasty is a rare complication. Newer and improved balloon-mounted stents with better radio-opacity have reduced the incidence of stent dislodgement but have not completely eliminated it. We report a case of balloon-mounted stent dislodgement in the proximal right coronary artery (RCA) prior to deployment. This patient was however successfully managed and the stent retrieved and deployed using small balloon technique. To our knowledge, only one or two case reports on sirolimus-eluting stent dislodgement have been published before.
