The article is focused on the arrival of Italian cuisine in Great Britain from a historical and an anthropological perspective. The cultural motivations of the success Italian food has achieved abroad, particularly in Great Britain, and connects the concept of food to the idea of regional and national identity. Alimentary habits are important for people's sense of cultural and social affiliation, and they change continuously. Attention is given to the stereotypes associated to Italy and it's food, and these stereotypes' impact on foreign consumers in the past and in the present.
