Error Probability Analysis for Dual-Hop Mixed RF-FSO System using CSOC Codes with MLGD Decoding.

2019
In this paper, bit error probability of a dual hop amplify-and-forward mixed RF-FSO system with convolutional self orthogonal codes (CSOC) and their majority logic decoding (MLGD) is investigated. The proposed system consists of a source transmitting a coded binary information over RF and FSO links to the destination node through the aid of a relay node. This latter receives the signal through an RF link, amplifies it by a fixed gain, and forwards it to the destination through an FSO channel. We derive the cumulative distribution function (CDF) of the total signal to noise ratio (SNR), and the pairwise error probability (PEP) of the considered system for BPSK modulation in terms of the Meijer G-Function. The PEP expression is used then in conjunction with the probability generating function of CSOC codes for calculating the closed form expression of the bit error probability of MLGD decoding. The derived mathematical expressions are verified by exactly matching Monte-Carlo simulation results.
