Clinical study on acetabular fractures treated by surgical operation

2009
Objective To analyze the therapeutic effect of surgical operation on 46 cases of acetabular fractures in our hospital. Methods 46 patients with acetabular fractures accepted open reduction and internal fixation(ORIF)in our hospital, with skeletal traction for 3~4 weeks after operation.Gradually passive motion of the hip joint and the excise of the femoral quadriceps were started on the third postoperative day.The patients were confined to bed for 8 weeks, then the patients started gradually the weight loading exercise 16-24 weeks after operation. Results 37 patients were treated by 6-hole or 8-hole plate on the anterior column, posterior column or both columns.6 patients were treated by 4-hole or 5-hole plate on the symphysis pubis.4 patients were treated by 4-hole plate on the sacroiliac joint.Only one patient was treated by cortical screw on the anterior column.Among these patients 28 cases were excellent.9 cases were good.5 cases were fair and 4 cases were poor. Conclusion The open reduction and internal fixation(ORIF) should be used for the most patients with displaced acetabular fractures.
