Functional Evaluation After Surgery for Patients with Malignant Tumors Arising from the Shoulder Girdle

1995
Functional evaluation of the upper extremities, especially the shoulder girdles and upper arm were done in 10 patients with malignant tumors arising from these regions. All patients were evaluated using the original system (1984 edition) and the current system (1993 edition). The mean rating in the shoulder girdle and upper arm was 56% in the current system. Using the original evaluation system, 60% of cases were classified as less than fair. When the ratings in the original system were expressed by the current numerical system and then compared with arbitrarily assigned values for excellent, good, fair, and poor, it was seen that there was a broad range of cases.
