The invention relates to a method for producing a hydrogen storage material for, in which a metal hydride or complex metal hydride, if necessary. This mixture is then ground and as an element of an alloy mixed with an organic carrier liquid and. According to the invention, the mixing ratio of the metal hydride, the metal hydride complex or the alloy with the carrier liquid and the grinding parameters are selected so that after grinding a suspension of the metal hydride, the metal hydride complex or the alloy in the carrier liquid. This causes the grains to agglomerate into smaller particles upon drying of the suspension than in manufacturing processes according to the prior art, in which, after grinding, a slurry is formed. As a result, both the storage capacity for hydrogen than the speed of the storage and retrieval of hydrogen are advantageously increased. The suspension is also well storable and pumpable. The invention also relates to a marked with special properties storage material for hydrogen, which can be produced with the inventive method.
