Influencia de la determinación del espacio disponible mandibular lingual como factor a considerar en la selección del conector mayor de dentaduras parciales removibles

2011
A pilot clinical study is presented with the purpose to obtain evidence about the application of different criteria for the selection of the mandibular mayor connector of PPR. It has been disccussed the influence of measuring criteria for mandibular lingual tissue in the selection of mayor conectors on 75 subjects treated with PPR in the Universidad Central de Venezuela ( School of dentistry) , who agreed to be evaluated according the informed consent approved by the Investigation Institute. The criteria to determinate the mandibular available space for placing the bottom of the mayor connector were the distance betwen gingival margin and floor of the mouth and the determination of the real amount of gingiva attached on the lingual area. Within this study it was concluded that if it is determinate the amount of real attached gingiva ,available space averages are favorable for the placement of the lingual bar in all subjects. The valuation of the space is not the only factor to take into consideration for the selection of the mayor connector since the biomechanical design considerations is a determining factor.
