Antibacterial Efficacy of Shower Cream Containing Triclosan: a Clinical Study (ประสิทธิภาพการต้านแบคทีเรียของครีมอาบน้ำที่มีส่วนผสมไทรโคลซาน : การศึกษาทางคลินิก)

2014
The double-blind clinical study was designed to test the antibacterial efficacy of shower cream containing 0.18% triclosan compared to placebo shower cream against skin microorganisms after repeated handwashings. Thirty male and female subjects who refrained from having their hands come in contact with any antimicrobial materials for 7 days were the subjects of the study. They washed their hand in a prescribed manner and for a prescribed number of times and the wash water from the final wash was examined for the amount of bacteria collected in the wash basin. Subjects were initially stratified into two balanced groups using their baseline initial count. Each group was then randomly assigned to the use of either the triclosan shower cream or the placebo for all washing and bathing and were asked to wash their hands twice daily under supervision for 3 days.  The results indicated that the group assigned to the triclosan shower cream had 83.47%, 78.61% and 74.29% less bacterial count at time 0, 12 and 24 hours respectively after final handwashing with the shower cream, than the group assigned to the placebo (p 0.05).
