Process for determining a multifocal ophthalmic lens for a carrier comprising the steps of: i) determining the height (T1, T2, T3) or the eye height (H1, H2, H3) of the carrier (i1, i2 , i3); ii) calculating at least one characteristic of the multifocal ophthalmic lens according to the height (T1, T2, T3) or the eye height (H1, H2, H3) of the carrier (i1, i2, i3); in that the ophthalmic lens has a power addition and a cross assembly, and wherein the angle of descent of the wearer's eyes (i1, i2, i3) between the direction of vision that passes through the mounting and corresponding to the start of progression, that is passing through a point having an optical power corresponding to a predetermined threshold between 5 and 25% addition of the multifocal ophthalmic lens is an increasing function of the height (T1, T2 , T3) or the height of the wearer's eyes (H1, H2, H3).
